SEM Remontées Mécaniques de Megève
 

The Remontées mécaniques de Megève company is jointly owned. 62% is held by the Megève commmune. Its management is also run by the Megève commune under the directorship of Guy Muffat, deputy mayor, and managed by Jean-Luc Delobel.

The company employs approximately 270 people during the winter, 44 of whom are permanent staff, its salaried workers are mostly locals who are joined by competent summer and inter-seasonal workers.

 
HISTORY
 

1933 : establishment of STMMB (Société des Téléphériques du Massif du Mont Blanc) by Charles Viard and the construction of the Rochebrune cable-car.

1934 : establishment of STMMA (Société du Téléférique de Megève Mont d'Arbois) by Baron Maurice de Rothschild and the construction of the Mont d'Arbois cable-car.

1952 : construction of the Jaillet cable-car.

1962 : construction of the Cote 2000 chairlifts.

1982 : establishment of SEM Megève Rochebrune and the Chamois cable-car.

1985 : construction of Rocharbois for the Rochebrune and Mont d'Arbois mountain ranges.

1999 : creation of SEM DES REMONTEES MECANIQUES DE MEGEVE, through the merger of STMMA and SEM Megève Rochebrune.

2000 : Rochebrune parking.

2001 : open access card established.

2002 : Princesse cable-car rebuilt.

2004 : opening of the Giettaz link up.

2004 : ISO Quality 9001 : 2000 certification attributed.

2005 : Alpette chairlift rebuilt.

2006 : artificial snow installation fitted at Alpette.

2007 : Mont d'Arbois parking.

2008 : Opening of the Waidzai Park.

2009 : MAGNESTICK System on Petit Rochebrune and Grands Champs chairlifts..
