skiamegeve winter summer

Before leaving :

Take with you :

Choose an activity that is within your capacity.
Choose a route according to your capability (do not overestimate oneself, control energy expenditure) and recognize how to adapt yourself to the difficulties encountered (slope, rough terrain, unstable weather).
Be informed of the weather conditions, the markers and signs to follow on site.
Inform someone of the day and hour of your departure and of your expected return as well as to the route you will be taking, avoid walking alone.
Do not count solely upon your mobile phone : the telephone network does not always function in mountainous areas.

Sufficient food and water.
Clothes adapted to the weather conditions which may change (warm clothes and waterproofs)
Hiking boots, a survival blanket, sunglasses, suncream
First aid kit, survival blanket, whistle, mobile phone and emergency contact numbers
A map of the surroundings, compass, altimeter, pocket knife and torch.

Be very careful :   In the event of an accident :

With children : they tend to use up their energy reserves rapidly and may find themselves in a state of exhaustion without any warning. Avoid rapid changes in altitude (risk of earache)
With the very young : if you carry them on your back, immobility and prolonged carrying can have serious side effects (sunstroke, isolation, dehydration, heatstroke, chilling, frostbite) Avoid taking very small children higher than 2500m altitude.

Protect the victims from immediate danger, cover them, place them in a dry place and reassure them.
Contact the emergency services or ask someone to do so (Tel. 112).

Numbers to be remembered :

  • Emergency number for all mobile phones : 112
  • Firemen : 18
  • Police : 17
  • Ambulance (SAMU) : 15
  • Haute Savoie France weather : 08.92.68.02.74
Respect the mountain :

When crossing villages, hamlets or alpine pastures, respect the work and the environment which renders our mountains beautiful and alive. Do not wander from marked paths, close all gates, do not climb over barriers.

Do not disturb wild animals or flocks. Take your rubbuish away with you, even if it is biodegradable.
